Death Note is the manga by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata (2003–2006), adapted into a celebrated anime and several live-action films. Genius high schooler Light Yagami finds a notebook dropped by the shinigami Ryuk: anyone whose name is written in it dies. Light sets out to build a crime-free world by killing criminals under the name "Kira", and the world's greatest detective, the enigmatic L, leads a police task force to catch him. Their battle of wits, and the rules of the notebook itself, drive the story.

Roleplays often build on its cat-and-mouse tension: new notebook owners, detectives and investigators, shinigami with their own motives, and debates over justice and power. Writers create original Kiras, rival detectives and gods of death, or rework the canon story.

    Hi, hi, everyone! I'm a 26 year old woman searching for a partner (18+) who shares my love of cat and mouse games and clever mind games to join me along in a story featuring a renowned detective and an exceptionally intelligent woman who stumbles across a supernatural murder weapon.

    Both too stubborn to give up on their chase and constantly trying to lure the other into a trap. The killer going as far as to infiltrate the police and work on the case alongside her. A constant back and forth and all the romantic tension that comes along with it.

    This is not a fandom roleplay but Death Note is an excellent example of what I'm looking for here and a big inspiration behind the idea.

    It also serves as a great example of what I'd like the killer's power to be. Something that is beholden to many rules but is near untraceable if used carefully. Whether her motives be large or purely self-indulgent (Other great examples are Lelouch's geass or the Jigoku Tsushin from Hell Girl. I'd also be down to modify any of these three for our use if that interests you!) Maybe if she learns someone's deepest fear, they will have a nightmare and die the following night? Maybe she possesses the ability to pass her consciousness into the body of anyone she has ever touched? Or anything else we can think of!

    I am more than happy to play either of these main characters. (Though, slightly partial to the detective!) So, if that interests you and you're the type of person willing to help build a complex web of rules and come up with plenty of clever tricks, please feel free to shoot me a message!
