It was the early 20th century when monstersβnow called βthe arcane-alignedββstarted the long and arduous fight for Civil Rights. Vampires begged for state-funded blood banks. Werewolves lobbied Medi-Care for full coverage of their βWolfsbaneβ potions. And beasts of all kinds began at last to emerge from their hidden existences in search of a more normal life.
In the late 2000s when the battle for societal acceptance was hitting its peak, a blinded Fallen Angel and his Seeing-Eye-Mousefolk negotiated a deal with the United Nations and the Portuguese government to open a University on an isolated island in the Azores to finally give the Monstrous and the Unholy a place to study and improve their futures in peace. The Academy of Arcane Studies is the first of its kind; a fully-functional post-secondary program designed specifically for monsters and recognized in over 40 countries.
But is this truly such a good idea? What happens when you take an isolated, vulnerable group and put them all in one public place? Is it safe to organize the best and brightest of the most controversial groups in history all in one place?
And why are there suddenly so many humans in suits wandering the Academy grounds?
